Hamilton Co. Teen Recovering After Friday Accident

Hamilton Co. – Two people were involved in a single-vehicle injury crash in Hamilton County Friday morning. According to a release from the Illinois State Police, the accident happened on Illinois 142 just south of County Road 400 North just before 8 o’clock on Friday morning when for an unknown reason, the driver – a 15-year-old girl from McLeansboro, left the roadway to the right and attempted to return to the roadway. The girl over-corrected which caused the car to leave the roadway to the left striking a tree with the front driver’s side. After the car struck the tree, it spun around and came to rest near the tree facing northeast. The girl was taken to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, 47-year-old Rebecca Anne Byars of McLeansboro, was not injured. No further information is available at this time.
